MESH (formerly known as Managed Emergency Surge for Healthcare, Inc.) has been on the forefront of healthcare emergency preparedness since its inception in 2007.

MESH was one of only 5 partnership projects chosen nationwide to pilot innovative hospital-based emergency preparedness efforts through a $5 million dollar grant from the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response Division.

MESH started with the following local partners:

  • Hospitals and healthcare organizations throughout the Greater Indianapolis area
  • City of Indianapolis/Department of Public Safety/Emergency Management Planning Division
  • Indiana University School of Medicine
  • Indiana Primary Health Care Association
  • Indiana State Department of Health
  • Indiana Department of Homeland Security
  • Marion County Health Department
  • Wishard Health Services

MESH was founded and led by Dr. Charles Miramonti, an emergency department physician at Wishard Memorial Hospital and Catherine Parker, a health and domestic preparedness grant expert.
