2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee Announces Collaborative “Super Care Clinic” To Serve Super Bowl Fans

Indianapolis – The 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee announced a collaborative Super Care Clinic that will serve Super Bowl fans. Visitors, volunteers and fans who need medical attention for non-emergent conditions while in the downtown area may take advantage of the Super Care Clinic that will be located in Union Station, 300 South Meridian Street during Super Bowl week.
“With more than 100,000 people expected to converge on our city during the Super Bowl, we want to ensure those fans can enjoy a safe, fun, festive and healthy experience while they are here,” said Allison Melangton, president and chief executive officer of the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee. “This clinic offers a convenient and accessible location if someone needs to access it.”

The Super Care Clinic is a full-service urgent care visit center operated by a coalition of Indianapolis-area healthcare facilities. Physicians and nurses from Community Health Network, Franciscan Alliance, Indiana University Medical Group Primary Care, St. Vincent Medical Group and Indiana University Health will be available to treat illnesses ranging from coughs and colds to minor injuries.
Individuals requiring more advanced treatment can be quickly transported to area hospitals. The Super Care Clinic is a fee-for-service clinic, although patients may choose to submit claims to their insurance companies and the clinic may be able to assist with this process. Charges for service are competitive with urgent care visit centers in the region and may be paid with cash or credit card. No appointment is necessary at the Super Care Clinic and walk-ins are welcome.

Managed Emergency Surge for Healthcare (MESH) has coordinated the staffing and operations of the Super Care Clinic. MESH chief executive officer Chad Priest added, “As people use this facility for non-emergencies, it will relieve pressure on hospitals to handle those more urgent care needs.”

The Super Care Clinic will be open during peak periods from January 27 through February 5, 2012. Throughout Super Bowl weekend, it will be open 24 hours a day. Visitors and fans can contact the Super Care Clinic by phone at (317) 636-CARE (2273) or www.indysupercare.org.
